FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Below are commonly asked questions families have when researching dementia care and the offering at Full Bloom
What services does Full Bloom Memory Care provide?
Full Bloom provides specialized in-home dementia and senior memory care. Services include personal care, cognitive engagement, companionship, mobility and safety support, and emotional reassurance. Every care plan is tailored to the person’s Life Story and changing needs.
Does Full Bloom only serve people with dementia?
While dementia and cognitive decline are our specialty, we also support individuals with related conditions, including Parkinson’s. If you're unsure whether we're a fit, we’re happy to talk it through. We also offer a Safety Net program for families not yet in need of full dementia care.
Where do you provide services?
We provide in-home senior memory care throughout the Greater Chicago North Shore, including Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, Highland Park, Winnetka and more. Families outside this area can still reach out—we may be able to help or offer a trusted referral. We typically provide care for individuals and couples in their homes, but can also provide 1:1 support in a community environment.
Are your caregivers trained in dementia care?
Yes. Every caregiver receives in-person, experiential dementia training that includes hands-on practice, real-life scenario coaching, and skills for communication, redirection, and behavioral support. Our training goes far beyond standard online modules.
How does Full Bloom match caregivers with clients?
We match caregivers based on personality, background, communication style, cultural alignment, and care needs, not just availability. Our care philosophy is based on continuity, comfort, and long-term trust with familiar faces.
Can Full Bloom help with activities and engagement for dementia patients?
Yes. We provide person-centered engagement tailored to each individual’s abilities and Life Story—such as music, storytelling, art, sensory activities, gentle movement, or meaningful conversation. We focus on connection, not just supervision.
Does Full Bloom Memory Care provide 24/7 or live-in care?
Yes. We offer 24/7 care using dedicated day and night shifts to ensure safety, consistency, and rest for the entire family. We also offer extended care and overnight support depending on your needs
What is the difference between memory care and dementia care at home?
Memory care usually refers to care provided inside a facility, whereas dementia care at home delivers the same expertise in the person’s own environment. In-home memory care offers one-on-one attention, preserved routines, comfort in familiar surroundings, and continuity with consistent caregivers. Full Bloom provides all memory care at home, designed around the individual, not a facility schedule.
Does insurance pay for dementia care?
Dementia care at home is typically private pay, but Full Bloom Memory Care can help families navigate long-term care insurance reimbursement when applicable.
How can a family get started with Full Bloom’s dementia care at home?
Families can get started by calling or messaging us. We begin with a brief introduction, followed by a Discovery Meeting, then develop a personalized in-home memory care plan based on your loved one’s Life Story and needs.
What is a Discovery Meeting?
A Discovery Meeting is a no-pressure conversation where we learn about your loved one’s routines, history, preferences, and current challenges. It also gives families a chance to ask questions and determine whether our model is the right fit.
What is a Life Story?
A Life Story is a comprehensive deep dive into your loved one’s personal history, routines, values, preferences, and identity before cognitive changes began. We use this information to train caregivers so they understand who the person is—not just their diagnosis—allowing for familiar routines, meaningful engagement, and highly personalized memory care at home.
Can a person with dementia live at home long-term?
Yes. With trained caregivers, a structured safety plan, and support tailored to the person’s abilities, many individuals can remain at home throughout their entire dementia journey. In-home memory care reduces disorientation, maintains dignity, and helps families avoid unnecessary moves or facility transitions.
